W.W.W. = Wisconsin-Wide Weirdness

September 9th, 2011

Welcome to W.W.W. or Wisconsin-Wide Weirdness.

This will be a semi-regular feature to the site. Whenever I stumble across Wisconsin weirdness in the news I’ll be posting it here.

While this blog is primarily concerned with Washington County and the book I am writing, we’re all Wisconsinites. And if you’re visiting a site like this odds are you like your news a bit off the beaten path.

In fact I don’t even need to qualify it. The first ever W.W.W. entry even has a Washington County connection. “Mobsters and Monsters” just recently put up a lengthy post about Ed Gein.

For those of you who live under a rock, Gein is the gentleman that liked killing women in hardware stores, digging up corpses, and making items out of their skin. He inspired such film fiends as Hannibal Lecter and Leatherface.

What’s he got to do with Washington County? His death car briefly made an appearance in Slinger at the Washington County Fair. This odd tidbit along with dozens more like it will be nestled in the pages of the upcoming Washington County Paranormal book. Until it’s published, you can learn plenty about Gein here… Mobsters and Monsters: Ed Gein
