Looking Ahead

Jack-o'-Lantern_2003-10-31

As I write this, the 2013 Downtown West Bend Ghost Walk season has just drawn to a close. I entered the season with more than a little trepidation. The first season (2012) had been wonderful, but I worried that during that first year I might had already depleted the fan-base. I soon realized that that concern was unfounded. Each week the walks maintained the average number of patrons and this October we set attendance records twice! One week we had 59 patrons, (the previous record from 2012 was 40, then the very next week we smashed that with 64 patrons! I want to thank every single one of you that have been supporting these tours. Much of this year’s income will go to publishing my next book, which hopefully will be published by Halloween 2014 (but more about that in the coming weeks).

Now that the walks are over it’s time to get back to my first love, writing. I’m working on various projects including both fiction and of course, non-fiction paranormal. I also plan to do several library and in-store appearances this winter and spring, so if your organization or business is interested please contact me.

Also, as the weather continues to deteriorate I plan on doing some work to expand the Ghost Walk business for the 2014 season! I’ve several ideas, all of which are still too raw to discuss publicly, but I hope to add a new tour for 2014. Also, I’m in talks with a local organization to bring back the Washington County Legend Trip bus tours, which were so popular in 2012. Keep your eyes on this site, my facebook page, twitter page, or sign up for my e-mail list to find out news on all this exciting stuff as it breaks!

New 2013 Ghost Walk Stops!

Sunday, April 7th, 2013
West Bend Theatre

Hi everyone,

I’ve been getting lots of e-mails from guests who took the 2012 Downtown West Bend Ghost Walks, asking if the tour would be different this year. I’m pleased to announce there will be four new stories/stops on this season’s walk! In addition to stops outside famous, historic locations like the Old Sheriff’s Residence and Jail, the Old Courthouse Museum, Old City Hall, and the West Bend Theatre (t0 name only a few), we’ll also be stopping outside of two new locations (not even mentioned in the tour’s companion book Washington County Paranormal: A Wisconsin Legend Trip)!

This year’s tour will also depart from last year’s strictly-ghost format and include cryptids (unknown animals) and true crime! You’ll hear the real-life horror’s of the infamous George DeBar lynching, and find out about the 2006 West Bend werewolf sighting!

Go HERE to make your reservations! Many walks sold out in 2012!

2012 Ghost Walk Season Ends

Thursday, November 1st, 2012
West Bend Theater

Tonight is the last scheduled Downtown West Bend Ghost Walk of the season. As regular readers of this blog are aware, the walks began as a way to fund the publication of my first book, Washington County Paranormal: A Wisconsin Legend Trip. The walks have been a great success, the book was published on October 03, 2012.

I’d like to thank all of you who came out to a walk this year, who told friends about them, who let me hang fliers in their businesses, et al. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without your support.

If you didn’t get a chance to take one of the walks this year, I plan on bringing them back next year. They were so much fun, I could hardly consider them work. Until then, you can read about most of the walk’s locations, and dozens more in my book, which you can find HERE.

I hope everyone had a safe, yet scary, Halloween!

There has been an astonishing amount of demand for Downtown West Bend Ghost Walks in October. As of today, 7pm Ghost Walks on Oct 13, 18, and 26 are full. If people are still interested in either of those three dates, I’ll be taking reservations for 9PM walks on all three of those dates.

There is still limited space on the October 28-31st. Make your reservations promptly to ensure you can participate on the night and time you’d like!

Hi Everyone!

There are currently less than two months left in the inaugural Downtown West Bend Ghost Walk season! So far they’ve been a great success. If you’ve already taken one, thank you! Funds from these walks are being used to finance the book “Washington County Paranormal: A Wisconsin Legend Trip,” which I’ll have a release day for in just a couple of weeks!

People have been asking about, and reserving spots for, the walks in September and October. This week alone I’ve gotten 16 reservations for October! I’m getting so much interest I’ve added additional dates! If you’re planning on talking the walk this year, I recommend you make reservations right away. Halloween season has officially been upon us since Labor Day Weekend, and interest is high this time of year! If none of the below dates work for you, do remember that I’ll schedule tours on additional dates for groups of 5 or more people (if we’ve no prior commitments).

Also, thinking about buying tickets to Chilling Tales!? Chilling Tales guests can take the Downtown West Bend Ghost Walk that night (October 13) for half price ($5 ea.)!

A Spectral Street Team?

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

Hi everyone. I’ve been out today hanging up fliers up for the Downtown West Bend Ghost Walk. If anyone would like to help, here’s how!

I’ve uploaded a print-ready PDF file of the flier. If you’ve got a business, a break room, or a bare spot on Granny’s fridge, consider printing one off and putting it out.

Everything about this Washington County Paranormal project is very punk rock, very DIY. The book is being self-published, the funds raised by the walks are going to publish the book, hell, I’m guiding the walks, booking appearances, sending out press releases, et al. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not attempting to tug at your heart strings. This is exactly how I wanted it. I wanted complete creative control, and I wanted it to succeed or fail based on my own performance and skills. Of course, I’m not so headstrong that I can’t accept help should someone want to offer it. Even if you print off and hang up just one flier, that would be a huge gesture, in my humble opinion.

Keep in mind though, always get permission before hanging up or leaving one of the fliers laying around. And don’t print a bunch off and toss them off the roof of your house in a phony ticker tape parade, “Simpsons” style. Littering is bad.

Also, if you can’t be bothered with this, just bring up the walks or the book around the water cooler. Word-of-mouth is just as, if not more so, effective.

Thanks again everyone, you’ve been making this project a big success!
